Tuesday night the Canyon Democrats held a 45th District Democratic Candidate Forum. The top 4 Democratic candidates were invited to take part: Brian Forde, Kia Hamadanchy, Dave Min, and Katie Porter. About 300 people attended - a great turn-out for a Tuesday night. The straw poll at the end showed David Min the leader. Any of them would be an excellent opponent against Mimi.
Saturday was the Women's March in Santa Ana. It was great fun! Lots of like-minded folks, which was refreshing and motivating. I heard there were about 20,000, but I can't get a confirmation on that. One note: the crowd consisted of mostly white men and women. I saw some Hispanic representation and a smattering of other ethnic origins. But the African American community was notable by it's absence. Really a problem for the Democrats. I spoke to my friend who went to the Baltimore march. Baltimore is a city of 85% African Americans. She felt there were only a handful in attendance. Very disappointing. What can we do to get out this significant part of the Democratic base?
